2019 models are live

Over the past weekend I finished updating the wiki with the initial models for the 2019 product year. So far we have documented 222 models for 2019 from the Ibanez website and the German catalog which has been released. This includes 48 new models and an additional 95 with changes.

I would expect that we'll see a couple more new things from the NAMM show which opens on January 24. As always, we'll update the wiki as soon as possible when anything new is announced.

2018 models are now live

I've just finished updating the wiki with the initial models for the new product year. So far we have documented 201 models for 2018 from the Ibanez website and the European catalog which has been released.

I would expect that we'll see a couple more new things from the NAMM show which opens this Thursday. We'll update the wiki as soon as possible when anything new is announced.

Introducing Portals (a.k.a. Browse)

Until now there has not been any easy way to browse the wiki in any meaningful way. To address that shortcoming we've recently completed the first phase of the Portal implementation. Portals are meant to provide a way to navigate the wiki.

The first phase includes the creation of yearly Portals for each year back to 1987. Check out the 2017 Portal to get an idea of what this is all about. This page provides a list (including images) of all of the current models with links to the individual model articles.

The next step involves crafting portals for each guitar series. This remains a work in progress, but for an example of what these will look like, check out the RGA series portal. This page breaks down all the RGA models by line (i.e. Presti…

2017 models are up-to-date

It's been a few weeks since Ibanez's new 2017 lineup made its debut at the NAMM show. As of this morning I finished the task of adding all the new models and updating all of the models carried over from previous years. So the wiki should now contain all known current Ibanez solid body guitar models.

The easiest way (for now) to see all the 2017 models in one place is to check out Category:2017 models. In the near future I hope to have a 2017 portal created which will be similar to this one for 2014.

As of now I've seen only the USA and European 2017 catalogs. We've also got the 2017 USA new product book which documents the new models for the US market. If anyone has access to or knows where I can find the catalog for any of the other markets…

Ibanez wiki now TWICE as good

If you've been following this blog, you're probably aware of the ongoing effort to bring this wiki back to life and make it into the Internet's most definitive resource for information about Ibanez guitars. This effort was undertaken this spring when I happened upon the wiki and realized what a great resource it is. Unfortunately, the wiki's founder had been inactive for the previous five years and the site was not being actively updated.

Our first step was to add articles for all of the models produced since 2011. This first stage was completed in mid-June.

We then re-focused our efforts on filling in the gaps of everything prior to 2011. This effort has been ongoing since and we recently completed documenting the models back through 1993. …
