The S9870 is an S series solid body electric guitar introduced by Ibanez in 2001. It is part of the Japanese handcrafted J Custom series.

The S9870 features a Honduran mahogany body with a quilted maple top with a set-in maple and bubinga neck with a 22-fret flame maple bound ebony fingerboard with off-set dot position markers. Components include DiMarzio pickups in an HSH configuration, a double locking tremolo bridge and a locking nut.

The S9870 was discontinued after 2002. Another S series model wouldn't appear in the J Custom line until the introduction of the S8570 in 2010.
