The S540LTD is an S series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 1993. It was based on the S540 which was redesigned and renamed (from 540S) for 1993. It is also referred to in at least one catalog as the S540LD.
The S540LTD features a mahogany body bolted to a maple neck with a 22-fret bound rosewood fretboard with sharktooth position markers. Components include a low-profile double locking tremolo bridge, a locking nut and Ibanez pickups.
In 1998 the neck was changed from a one-piece maple construction to a three-piece maple and bubinga construction and the neck profile was changed from the Wizard to the Super Wizard.
The S540FM is similar model with a flamed maple top and oval fretboard inlays. The S540BM is a similar model with a burl mahogany top and oval inlays. The S540QS has a quilted sapele top and oval inlays.
Ths S540LTD was discontinued after 1999.
