The S540JAPAN is an S series solid body electric guitar introduced by Ibanez in 1997. It is made in Japan by FujiGen as part of the high end J Custom series.

The S540JAPAN features a mahogany body finished with a special Japanese lacquer technique called Urushi where pigments are mixed with lacquer; in this application it results in a striking multi-colored collage effect. The body is bolted to a maple Wizard neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with binding and oval position markers and a "Custom Made" plaque at the 22nd fret. Components include DiMarzio pickups with a pair of humbuckers flanking a single-coil, a Lo-Pro Edge double locking tremolo bridge and Gotoh tuning machines and strap locks.

The S540JAPAN was made only in 1997 and it's believed that as few as 12 examples were produced.
