The RGT42FX is an RG series guitar model introduced and produced by Ibanez only in 2007, replacing the RGT42DXFX.

The RGT42FX features neck-through-body construction with mahogany wings on a maple and walnut neck with a Wizard II profile and a bound rosewood fretboard with offset dot position markers. Components include dual Ibanez Infinity humbucking pickups and standard hard-tail bridge.

It is the second model with the RGT42FX model name after a 2003–2004 model which was sold only in Japan.

This RGT42FX was discontinued after just one year in production.
