The RGT42FXQM features a neck-through-body construction with mahogany body wings and a quilted maple top, Ibanez Infinity pickups and the Edge III tremolo.

Production of the RGT42FXQM was moved from Korea to Indonesia for 2009.

The RGT42FXQM was offered only in the USA. Similar models have been issued as the RGT42FX and RGT6EXFX.
