The RGA420Z is an RGA series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 2010. It is part of the handcrafted-in-Japan Prestige line.
The RGA420Z features an arched-top mahogany body with a flamed maple top bolted to a maple and walnut neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot position markers. Components include dual covered Ibanez active humbucking pickups with an Active EQ control, an Edge Zero double locking tremolo bridge, a locking nut and Gotoh tuning machines.
The RGA420Z was among the first RGA models equipped with a tremolo, along with the seven-string RGA427Z and the RGA220Z which is similar to the RGA420Z but lacks the flamed maple top.
In place of the typical tone knob, the RGA420Z has an Active EQ controlled with the Active EQ knob. This EQ allows for everything from a bass boost/treble cut to treble boost/bass cut in a sooth and natural curve.
