The miKro (or Mikro) series is a line of short-scale (or 3/4 size) solid body electric guitars produced for Hoshino Gakki and sold under the Ibanez brand. Most Mikro model have been part of the entry-level GIO series. The exception is the RGM55, which is part of the standard RG series. The first miKro model was introduced in 2006 and has been in production since with several models.

The miKro series is aimed primarily at adolescent players and those with smaller hands, but is also useful as a travel guitar due to it's smaller dimensions.

Origins[]

The miKro line was introduced for 2006 with the GRGM21, which features a downsized RG-style body and a 22.2" scale neck with a rosewood fingerboard and signature Ibanez "sharktooth" inlays. The GRGM21M model was added in 2009. The "M" differs from the original by employing a maple fretboard with black dot inlays. A left-handed model of the original (Rosewood fretboard) miKro, the GRGM21L was added in 2010.

Basses[]

The miKro series aren't only guitars. The Soundgear series under the code GSRM are basses with a 28.6" short scale, added to the miKro line since 2007.
