The RG8420ZE is an RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 2009. It was made in Japan by FujiGen as part of the high-end J Custom line.
The RG8420ZE features include a AAA flamed maple top with natural binding on an African mahogany body bolted to a maple and walnut neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with flamed maple binding and Tree of Life inlays. Components include a pair of EMG active humbucking pickups, an Edge Zero double locking tremolo bridge with a removable ZPS3 tuning stabilizer and Gotoh tuning machines.
For 2010, KTS titanium reinforcing rods were added to the neck.
The RG8420ZD is a similar model with Seymour Duncan passive pickups.
The RG8420ZE was discontinued after 2012.
