The BL440 features an ash body bolted to a maple neck with a 22-fret maple fingerboard with dot position markers. Components include an Ibanez humbucking pickup in the bridge position and two Ibanez single coil pickups in the middle and neck positions along with a non-locking synchronized tremolo bridge.
