The Ibanez AXS42 is an AX series guitar model introduced in 2006. It is similar to the 2005 AXS32, but now features a tailpiece, a new set of inlays and pickup covers. Other features include a mahogany body, Ibanez Axis pickups and a Full Tune III bridge. Notable feature is the mahogany set-in neck instead of a bolt-on construction usually found on AX models.

The AXS42 is the last non-GIO AX model as of 2010.
