The Ibanez 542R is a Radius series guitar model introduced and produced only in 1992. It is one of the first Radius models with a more traditional Stratocaster-like approach. The pickups are three Ibanez made single coil-sized humbucking pickups resulting in an SSS look. Other features include a basswood body, a maple neck with bound rosewood fingerboard and clear finished headstock and a synchronized tremolo.

It was replaced in late 1992 by more Strat-like Radius models like the R355GF and R334.
